Our founder, James Brian Leary has an instinctual mind for electrical construction that is only seen every so often. A second generation electrician, Jim learned the trade at an early age working for his father Frank Leary. Jim started off his career working in an electrical supply house as a driver. He so impressed his superiors with his aptitude and work ethic that he was quickly offered a job as an apprentice electrician. Jim worked through his apprenticeship and progressed through the ranks quickly. At the age of 23 he was already running industrial jobs for an electrical contractor. Only three years later he became Project Manager in charge of the company’s largest and most challenging projects. When Jim acquired his electrical license in 1981, it was with the intention to one day start his own company. Not long after he was promoted to Vice President of A.C. Brandner Electric in 1989, this dream would become a reality. JBL Electric was born in 1993 by co-founders, Jim Leary and Birger Brink-Lund. With Jim’s prolific electrical expertise and Birger’s dynamic business mind, the company was positioned for success. Holding their meetings in local diners and prepping material in Jim’s garage, the early days of JBL were hardly glamorous, but extremely efficient. Continuing the hard work and brilliant skill his bosses had seen him demonstrate as a young apprentice, Jim would make JBL a powerhouse in the NJ electrical industry. As JBL leads the way into the future of the electrical industry, Jim can still be found on the job site. Continuing to be hands on, he enjoys every part of every new challenge. Jim’s tremendous knowledge of electrical theory, equipment and tools sets him apart from the rest. His keen insights and experience ensure each job he engineers is an enormous success. He has earned enormous respect from his peers, employees and clients, always making himself available to anyone seeking his advice. He prides himself on the idea that the President and Founder of successful company should also be accessible to his customers. Jim’s approach, wisdom and vision bring JBL continued success as they venture into the newest and most challenging electrical work of tomorrow. |
